Ordino-Arcalis (Andorra)

I've just come back from my second Andorra hit this year, and I can't begin to tell you what a revelation Arcalis has been. While the rest of Andorra was boarding/skiing in sticky, slushy rubbish, we were enjoying the fresh powder of Arcalis. The place was almost deserted in the week before Easter. In fact, I don't think I had to queue for a lift in 2 weeks. Paradise. Visibility can be a problem, but generally we just waited for the snow to stop dumping! And this was only 10 days ago (mid April)! I shouldn't be telling you this... actually it was terrible... don't go there!

Pal-Arinsal (Andorra)

(Feb 2002) Having never skied before it certainly was an experience, most of the day was spent with my poles and skies up in the air. My sense of direction left a lot to be desired and all I could say was wooooooh, help and sorry! My only complaint was the ski instructor, arriving late, leaving early, rude and more concerned with socializing with the other instructors than teaching the class. Night life was great as was the food in many of the restaurants esp. a little Italian at the bottom of the gongola (El Moli,I think!). Enjoy

Soldeu El Tarter

(30 Nov 2003): Back again this year (2003) for some top skiing, snowed nearly every nite sunny every day. Bars were really rocking this year,Fat Alberts and Aspen bar had really good bands, Breeze in aspen bar were fantastic. Our ski instructor this year was a raveing mad aussie called Jayne R, she took us everywhere on the resort and for some realy scary off piste. If you can get in her class you'll have great fun. My wife is a begginer and had private lessons with Craig (a loony Kiwi) now she loves it. Best Hotel has got to be Sport village hotel, fall out of bed and your in the gondola.Off to Miribel this year 600km of piste Wahooo!

Chapa Verde (Santiago Chile)

I went yesterday to Chapa Verde (19 July 1999). The landscape to get there is very beautiful. It seems we need a little snow to say great! The areas to ski are good and you can find lots of families trying to learn how to ski. It's good to know the place, despite the fact that the facilities are not the best.

Borovets (Bulgaria)

Bulgaria's Borovets brings out the Dickens in visitors. It's the best of times and the worst of times, based on what our (mostly British) reviewers have to say. And they have so much to say that we've broken the reviews down accordingly. See if you're big and bad enough to venture into Europe's wild, wild east. The action is in two places at Borovets. The old area has 2 chairs and 3 surface lifts serving mostly beginner and intermediate terrain. The World Cup area, built for the 1981 World Cup competition, features a gondola and a number of surface lifts with access to intermediate and advanced slopes.

Aprica (Italy)

I went to Aprica last feb 04 with my school and me and my friend loved it so much that were goin there again next feb 06. i couldnt find anything wrong with Aprica teh hotel we stayed at golf hotel eden and it was a very cosy and nice hotel, the slopes was amazing and the instructers were very nice spec franchie adn andreos. the night life there wasnt the best but you could still have a laugh the best club was prob the eye bar. and if you eva think of goin there def buy sum mikados they are so tasty lol

Val Gardena (italy)

4 July 2003): I have skiied in Val Gardena for 10 days in Christmas 2002. I stayed in "Sule-Hof" pension ; a nice and peacefull place in village Ortisei.All Val Gardena region is beautifull but Ortisei is extraordinary!!! The view of Dolomites is just amazing!!! (espesially Sasolungo).Hudrend miles of well groumed open slopes in "Alpe di Siusi". Perfect place for andvanced skiers is "Ceceda".There is possibility for night ski in "Castelrotto". All Val Gardena its a very fantastic place (because of Dolomites this unique mountains!!!The people there are very gentle and polite! The village likes as picture!! Best ski-best place-best scenery!!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!

La Thuile (italy)

The great advantage of La Thuile is that the vast majority of its slopes are North facing and thus hold the snow very well. Lift system is excellent, with little or no queues. Great beginner spot at the top of the gondola. Fantastic intermediate cruise for about 11 km from Chaz Dura back to the village. And the homeward blacks through the trees are really tough. Only downside is Turin airport, terribly inefficent. Try the more expensive flights to Geneva if not going with a package operator.

Andermatt (Switzerland)

(belgium, 4 Feb 2005)I think it must be possible to go with a motorhome! In 2003 I saw Danisch guys with a motorhome in Andermatt! Maybe some improvisation is necessary to make it work. Or a good local adres? Believe it or not, but I once went with just a tent! My will to go skiing is most of the time greater then my financial capacity to do it as often as possible. The locals are very warm, my tent not! I got some help of a local citizen who offered me his warm and cosy garage if my tent became too cold. A amazing experience.

St. Moritz (Switzerland)

St. Moritz has it all really, the glamour, the sun, the ski, and the snow. its one of my favourite resorts,as you could ski there for a whole season and not get bored of the slopes or scenery. there is just so much to do, and its great to see how the likes of the rich and famous spend their time and money! however if your strapped for cash id recommend hiring a car, and getting a hotel out of the St. Moritz vicinity as the prices are hair raising!
